ECI was established in the year of 1982 as Electricite du Laos (EdL) branch to achieve

Project Vientiane Plain Rural Electrification(VPRE) Phase I ( 1982-1986) and Phase II(1986-1989) The scope of work were: erection 22kv and 0.4kv net work, erection of distribution transformers and house hold watt hour meter. Meanwhile ECI provide the services for dam’s survey, installation of 0.4kv, 22kv, and distribution transformer.

After the completion of the VPRE project, ECI was established as the auto financing company by splitting from EDL, employee more than 250 persons and the main objective of the establishment to achieve Southern Provincial Electrification Project ( SPE) (The scope of work is similar to VPRE project)

Facing to the regional crisis situation, ECI has been unified with EdL in April 1996, and became EdL’s branch. During this period, ECI still prove his strong skill in the job, such as survey and design, installation all net work (0.4kv, 22kv), distribution transformer; maintenance and reparation of all existing EdL’s net work (including 115kv and sub station).

In the early of the year 2006, according to the market size, and to diversify EdL’s services to the others forms, ECI has been separated from EdL and become auto financing state enterprise as called: Electrical Construction and Installation state enterprise, where the main objectives :

· Survey, design, construct, and erect all the electricity system.

· Corporate with the local and foreign investors to built the energy resources such as hydropower, solar power…

· Invest in the manufacturing of electrical equipment and appliances, by joining with the investors (local and foreign).
